Synergistic stabilizing compositions are employed to stabilize halogen-containing vinyl polymers, for example degradation and discoloration. Stabilizing compositions comprise a dihydropyridine or polyhydropyridine, and at least one of an aminoalcohol of formula (3) wherein Y is a substituted or unsubstituted C 1-6 alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl group; R 1 and R 2 are each independently hydrogen or a substituted or unsubstituted C 1 -C 6 alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl group, provided that Y, R 4 R 4 and R 2 are substituted to provide the amino alcohol with two or more hydroxy groups; or a perchlorate salt. |
