abstract |
"Process for obtaining alkyl esters of fatty acids, rosin acids and tall crude oil sterols". The present invention relates to a process for obtaining alkyl esters of fatty acids, rosin acids and tall crude (cto) oil sterols which is characterized by the following steps: (a) reaction of free fatty acids present in cto with lower alcohols; (b) separating the lower alkyl fatty acid esters thus obtained from the remainder of this to produce a first fatty acid ester stream; (c) esterifying the remaining sterols with boric acid; (d) separation of the remaining rosin acids from the previously obtained sterol borates to produce a second rosin acid stream; and (e) converting said sterol borates to free sterols to produce a third stream of free sterols. |
