abstract |
"Phytase-containing animal feed and its method". A method for enhancing the nutritional value of a feed comprising a source of myo-inositol hexakisphosphate by feeding the feed in combination with a phytase expressed in yeast is described. The method comprises the step of feeding the animal the feed in combination with a yeast-expressed phytase where the phytase can be selected from the group consisting of appa1, appa2 and a mutant directed to the appa site. The invention also enables a reduction in the feed to weight ratio and an increase in bone mass and mineral content of an animal. feed and a food additive comprising appa2 or an appa site directed mutant are also described. |
