titleOfInvention flow injection analysis system for semi-continuous formaldehyde determination using fluoral-p
abstract FLOW INJECTION ANALYSIS SYSTEM FOR SEMI-CONTINUOUS FORMALDEID DETERMINATION USING FLUORAL P. The present patent pending flow injection analysis utility model is designed to describe a semi-continuous automated gas formaldehyde analyzer using the fluoral reagent P , a gas diffusion sampling chamber employing microporous PTFE tube and fluorescence detection. This system will be used to semi-continuously evaluate the levels of farmaldehyde in the atmosphere. This methodology should be applied in the determination of gas phase formaldehyde without any pretreatment step, since other aldehydes of higher molecular weight do not interfere with the determinations. A major advantage of the method is that the presence of acetaldehyde, even at concentrations 1000 times higher than that of formaldehyde, does not influence the results of the analyzes. With this method it is possible to detect quantities of formaldehyde in the order of 0.001 Ag and concentrations ranging from 0.005 to 1.0 Ag / m³. (from Andrade, J. B .; Bishop, M. S .; Rebouças, M. V .; Carvalho, M. L. S. M .; Pinheiro, H. L. C .; American Laboratory, 1996, 56). The described system proposes the analysis of gas formaldehyde by flow injection, with easy handling, high sensitivity, high precision and accuracy and little material for disposal.
