titleOfInvention Process for catalytically hydrogenating adiponitrile to hexamethylenediamine at elevated temperature and pressure
abstract "PROCESS FOR CATALYTIC HYDROGENATION FROM ADIPONITRILLA TO HEXAMETHYLENODIAMINE IN HIGH TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE". The invention relates to a process for the catalytic hydrogenation of adiponitrile to hexamethylenediamine at an elevated temperature and at a high pressure in the presence of elemental iron-based catalysts such as the catalytic component and ammonia as a solvent. The process is characterized by the fact that a) adiponitrile is hydrogenated at temperatures of 70 to 220 ° C and at pressures of 100 to 400 bar in the presence of catalysts based on elementary iron such as the catalytic component and ammonia as a solvent to produce a mixture which contains adiponitrile, 6-aminocaponitrile, hexamethylenediamine and high boiling compounds until the sum of the concentration of 6-aminocaponitrile and adiponitrile is 1 to 50% by weight with respect to the ammonia-free hydrogenation mixture; b) ammonia is separated from the hydrogenation discharge; c) hexamethylenediamine is separated from the remaining mixture; d) 6-aminocaponitrile and adiponitrile are separated from the high boiling compounds together or separately and e) 6-aminocaponitrile, adiponitrile or mixtures thereof are returned to step a).
