<B> "METHOD, COMPOSITION AND DEVICE FOR THE REGULATION OF CIO AND OVULATION IN MATRIZES" <D>. Controlled release compositions and methods for inducing pseudopregnancy in sows and sows are disclosed. In the preferred embodiment, the present invention includes polylactide microspheres releasing estradiol 17ß at physiologically usable levels over a period of time between five and thirty days. After inducing pseudopregnancy, pseudopregnancy can be terminated and estrus can be induced by means of compounds such as O PGF2 <244>. The advantages of inducing pseudopregnancy followed by estrus induction are that the breeding patterns of a large number of sows and sows can be controlled. |
