titleOfInvention Anionic polymerization initiators for the preparation of macro-branched dienic rubbers.
abstract Invention Patent: <B> "ANIONIC POLYMERIZATION INITIATORS FOR THE PREPARATION OF MACRORRAMIFIED DIENE RUBBER" <D>. Anionic polymerization initiators on solid support, which are multimetalized with Group IA alkali metal atoms, are presented and used to produce branched dienic polymers of extremely high molecular weight. The initiators are prepared by metallizing a particle comprising a cured thermoplastic polymer or elastomer in the presence of a polar coordinator. The polymers obtained by anionic polymerization using the initiators are multi-branched, with a polymeric chain covalently linked to the particle at virtually all metallization sites. Macro-branched polymers exhibit desirable properties, such as extremely high molecular weight, controlled molecular weight distribution, T ~ g ~ and vinyl content, and the ability to readily absorb solvents and hydrocarbon oils. Polymers are easily combined to form vulcanizable elastomeric compounds and articles that have excellent wear and tear resistance, and that exhibit reduced hysteresis properties.
