"COMPOSITIONS FOR PERSONAL CARE". Compositions for personal care, especially compositions for hair styling containing silicone microemulsions, and the corresponding applications of such compositions are disclosed. The further disclosed invention relates to stable hair styling compositions containing a silicone microemulsion and lower monohydric alcohol. A preferred personal care composition comprises: a) from about 0.01% to about 20% of a silicone-free polymer, suitable for styling hair; b) an organopolysiloxane microemulsion comprising: (i) an organopolysiloxane dispersed as particles in the microemulsion, wherein the organopolysiloxane is substantially free of amino groups in combination with hydroxyl groups and has an average particle size of less than about 80 nanometers, and (ii) a surfactant system for the dispersion of organopolysiloxane in the microemulsion, which is compatible with the polymer for hair styling; wherein the amount of microemulsion is such that the personal care composition comprises from about 0.01% to about 10% of the organopolysiloxane; and c) a carrier comprising: (i) from about 3% to about 99%, by weight of the composition, of a first solvent selected from the group consisting of water; water-soluble organic solvents; organic solvents that are strongly to moderately strong in the hydrogen bonding parameter; and their mixtures; wherein the first solvent is different from C ~ 1 ~ -C ~ 3 ~ monohydric alcohol, C ~ 1 ~ -C ~ 3 ~ ketone and C ~ 1 ~ -C ~ 3 ~ ether; and (ii) optionally, from about 0% to about 55% of a second solvent selected from the group consisting of monohydric C ~ 1 ~ -C ~ 3 ~ alcohols, C ~ 1 ~ -C ~ 3 ~ ketones, ethers of C ~ 1 ~ -C ~ 3 ~, and mixtures thereof. |
