"BIOCOMPATIBLE ARTICLE AND PROCESS TO PREPARE THE SAME". Biocompatible articles for contact with a patient are described as having antimicrobial metal ions attached loosely. In addition, biocompatible articles made of biocompatible material for subcutaneous, percutaneous and cutaneous use are described in which the biocompatible material has an exogenous storage structure having antimicrobial metal ions attached to it in a detachable manner. Exogenous storage structures can include proteins such as ferritin, globulins, albumin, glutathione, transferrin, hemoglobin, metallothienes, myoglobin, ceruloplasmin and hemocyanine. Associated processes for participating in antimicrobial properties for biocompatible articles are described. |
