titleOfInvention constructive layout introduced on portable ergometric step with performance recorder and software
abstract abstract “constructive arrangement introduced in a portable ergometric step with performance recorder and software” the portable ergometric step with side bars and software coupled with the step counter (hardware) is a portable instrument consisting of an ethylene vinyl acetate base ( eva) 80 cm wide, 30 cm deep and 30 cm high (maximum) with holes in the upper part where two side bars fit for user support. the step can have three other alternative heights 15, 20, 25 and 30 cm through the use of eva plates of different colors, with the front portion chamfered to reduce the risk of the user tripping, which are fitted to the base by means of “key-lock” system to reduce the risk of slipping during exercise. such boards can be placed one by one, depending on the exercise protocol applied, according to the step heights most described in the literature. there will also be a set of load cells / strain gages that will identify the weight unloading of each lower limb separately and will be coupled to the upper portion of the step. on one side of the base of the step there are four casters for portability. in this situation, the side support handles are removed and fixed on the front and back faces of the base, facilitating transport. on the contralateral upper face of the base of the step there is a led display that records the performance of the patient assessed by means of two presence sensors fixed on the upper portion that identify the number of times the user has climbed the step. this system has a light and audible trigger to identify the beginning of the test and there is the possibility for the evaluator to enter the type of step protocol he will perform (self-certified or externally paced). in addition, the sensors still identify the total test time, ascent and descent time (ms), total time / cycle, number of ascent and descent / min. such information is recorded on hardware and downloaded to a computer via a usb input / output. the data are analyzed using specific software created for this purpose, capable of holding data from the evaluator, the user and generating a performance report containing, in addition to the data obtained by integrating the presence and weight unloading sensors of each lower limb, other patient variables can be obtained through calculations in the software such as: 1) vo2max (ml.min-1.kg-1) = whor + wvert; whor = 0.35 x min-1 steps, wvert = a * min-1 steps * step height (m). 1/2
