abstract process to modify plant biomass. recombinant polynucleotides and methods for modifying the phenotype of a plant are provided. In preferred embodiments, the modified phenotype is a plant biomass. Modifying plant biomass leads to improved yields for hardwood crops, for example. The process comprises altering the levels of a transcription factor that is introduced into the plant or that is endogenous to the plant to obtain a plant with more biomass.
