process for preparing a plasticized super porous hydrogel, use of one or more plasticized super porous hydrogels and oral dosage formulation. The invention relates to a process for preparing a plasticized superporous hydrogel material which comprises subjecting the initial hydrogel material to treatment with an acidic solution, optionally, a monovalent metal saline solution, lyophilization and plasticization. optionally, the process of the invention produces bodies of molded plasticized superporous hydrogel material which have one or more through holes formed therein. The plasticized superporous hydrogel material of the present invention may be formulated as an oral dosage form suitable for use as an appetite suppressant and for use in delivering a pharmaceutical and/or nutraceutical to a human or animal body. |
