abstract |
thermally expandable microspheres comprising a polymeric shell that surrounds a hollow core and process for preparing thermally expandable microspheres. The invention relates to thermally expandable microspheres comprising a polymeric shell that surrounds a hollow core containing blowing agent, the polymeric shell comprising a carboxylate-functionalized cellulose having a glass transition temperature (tg) of at least 125 °C. the invention also relates to a method for preparing such thermally expandable microspheres comprising mixing an aqueous phase which optionally comprises an emulsifier with an organic phase which comprises an organic solvent, a blowing agent and a carboxylate-functionalized cellulose having a tg of hair. minus 125°c to form a dispersion of microspheres. |
