titleOfInvention METHOD FOR DETECTION, BY A RADIATION DETECTOR, OF RADIATION ISSUED BY A RADIATION SOURCE, METHOD FOR DETECTION, BY A RADIATION DETECTOR OF MULTIPLE DETECTORS, OF THE RADIATION ISSUED BY A RADIATION FACILITY OF DENSITY BETWEEN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE STRUCTURE, APPLIANCE FOR DETECTION, BY A RADIATION DETECTOR, OF THE RADIATION ISSUED BY A RADIATION SOURCE, AND, APPLIANCE FOR SWEEPING A STRUCTURE TO DETECT DENSITY CHANGES BETWEEN DIFFERENT STRUCTURE PARTS
abstract A method for detecting radiation is described. The method comprises providing at least one source of radiation; provide at least one detector capable of detecting radiation from the source; causing said source to emit radiation along a predetermined radiation path towards said detector; during a measurement period, detect successive counting events that correspond to photons coming from the source and detected by the detector; measure the duration of each such counting event to determine a dead time associated with each counting event; calculate a total dead time for the measurement period as the sum of each time determined as dead and associated with each counting event; determine a photon counting rate from the total number of counting events during the measurement period; calculate a corrected counting rate by applying a correction factor based on subtracting the total dead time from the measurement period. A method of scanning an object and an apparatus for executing the methods are also revealed.
