abstract |
The present invention provides sulfasalazine salt compositions. In some cases, the sulfasalazine salts have a crystalline form. The present crystalline sulfasalazine salts can provide a water-soluble form of the active compound that finds use in pharmaceutical compositions and therapeutic applications. The present sulfasalazine crystalline salts can provide increased solubility compared to the zwitterionic or acid free form of sulfasalazine. Pharmaceutical compositions are also provided including the present sulfasalazine salt compositions. Also provided are methods of treating a neurologically related disease such as refractory epilepsy using the present sulfasalazine salts and pharmaceutical compositions. |
