the present invention relates to a biosensor for detecting biomarker in body fluid, secretion or exudation, comprising first and second electrodes (100a, 100b), coating (200) and mechanical electrode stabilizer (300). the biomarker is an enzyme that catalyzes a chemical reaction in which a singularity or plurality of constituents of the electrode coating (200) are chemically altered by the rupture of the covalent chemical bonds when in contact with it. the electrode coating comprises a natural or synthetic substrate of the biomarker. the first and second electrodes are electrically conductive and maintained at a uniform and substantially distance from each other by means of the stabilizer (300). the electrically exposed conductive surface of at least one of the first and second electrodes is completely covered by the coating (200). the biosensor exists in at least one state in the group of states comprising a high impedance state, in which the coating (200) is chemically unchanged by the biomarker, and a low impedance state, in which the coating (200) is chemically altered by the biomarker . a wound dressing diagnostic system is also provided using this biosensor. |
