titleOfInvention | methods of treating a fungal infection in an individual in need of it, of preventing a fungal infection in an individual, and of treating infection by vulvovaginal candidiasis (vvc) in an individual in need of it |
abstract | enfumagungin-derived triterpenoid antifungal compounds are used to treat or prevent fungal infections occurring in or under acidic conditions, where the ph is less than about 7, due to its enhanced and unexpected efficacy under such conditions. enfumagungin-derived triterpenoids (or pharmaceutically acceptable salts or hydrates thereof) are inhibitors of (1,3) -ß-d-glucan synthesis and are usable in the treatment or prevention of fungal or yeast infections that occur in anatomical areas low ph, such as the vaginal cavity, or under acidic local environmental conditions, such as those observed in fungal abscesses, empyema or upper gastrointestinal tract infections. |
