a method is provided to manipulate a microdroplet of a reaction medium in a carrier medium immiscible with a target molecule attached to a solid support for the purpose of effecting a chemical transformation. is characterized by the steps of (a) putting the microdroplet in contact with the solid support under conditions in which the microdroplet and the solid support are combined, (b) allowing the reaction medium to react with the target molecule and (c) subsequently exercising a force to induce the reaction medium to detach itself from the solid support and to reform a microdroplet in the carrier fluid. in one embodiment, the solid support is a particle, granule or the like. |
