a class of pesticidal protein that exhibits toxic activity against coleopteran and lepidopteran pest species is disclosed and includes, but is not limited to, tic7040, tic7042, tic7381, tic7382, tic7383, tic7386, tic7388 and tic7389. dna constructs are provided that contain a recombinant nucleic acid sequence encoding the pesticidal proteins tic7040, tic7042, tic7381, tic7382, tic7383, tic7386, tic7388 and tic7389. transgenic plants, plant cells, seeds and parts of plants resistant to infestation by coleopters and lepidopterans are provided, which contain sequences of recombinant nucleic acids that encode the pesticidal proteins tic7040, tic7042, tic7381, tic7382, tic7383, tic7389, tic7389 and tic7388 present invention. methods for detecting the presence of the recombinant nucleic acid sequences or proteins of the present invention in a biological sample, and methods of pest control of coleopteran and lepidopteran species using the pesticidal proteins tic7040, tic7042, tic7381, tic7382, tic7383, tic7386, tic7388 and tic7389 are also provided. |
