titleOfInvention makeup for skin application, personal hygiene and perfume release extension method
abstract The present invention relates to a skin composition comprising: (i) at least 40% by weight of ethanol; (ii) from 0.1 to 6% by weight of perfume comprising nonpolar perfume materials; (iii) optionally at least 0.2% by weight of surfactant; (iv) 0.1 to 6% by weight of porous microparticles comprising sol-gel derived material; sol-gel derivative material including a plurality of alkylsilyloxy substituents and wherein the sol-gel derivative material is obtained from: (a) at least one first alkoxysilane precursor having the formula: (ch2) n-ar- (ch2) m-si- (or?) 3 (1) where neither is individually an integer from 1 to 8, ar is a unique, fused or polyaromatic ring, and each r? is independently a C1 to C5 alkyl group and; (b) optionally at least one second precursor having the formula: (r) y (r) y x (r 'o)? si? (r) "si" (or ") x) z (2) where x is 1, 2, 3 or 4; y is 0, 1, 2, 3; z is 0.1; the total of x + y + z is 4; each r is independently an organic functional group; each r? is independently an alkyl group c1 to c5 and r ?? It is an organic bridging group where the sol-gel derived material is swellable to at least 2.5 times its dry mass when placed in excess acetone, so at least part of the perfume remains outside the microparticles. likewise, a method of extending perfume release from a perfumed composition comprising the steps of: (i) adding sol-gel derived silica microparticles as described above to an ethanolic composition comprising ethanol and perfume comprising components non-polar perfumes, dispersed or dissolved in ethanol, and optionally surfactant; (ii) applying the composition to the skin to deposit the microparticles on the skin; (iii) evaporation of ethanol to leave some perfume and microparticles on the skin; absorbing at least part of the nonpolar perfume components from the liquid in the microparticles, preferably such that the microparticles increase in weight by 20 to 80% by weight and; (iv) release of perfume from the microparticles over a period of up to 24 hours
