abstract The invention relates to a method for the immobilization of biomolecules containing at least one sulfhydryl group, which method comprises contacting a modified metal surface with the biomolecule, irradiating the resulting surface with uv radiation in the presence of a photoinitiator, wherein: said metal surface is modified with a crosslinking compound comprising a terminal thiol or dithiol group covalently bonded to the metal surface, a spacer group which at the other end is carrying an isolated double or triple bond.
