abstract |
The present invention relates to a decision support system including a measuring device configured to continuously measure a physiological parameter of a patient. An insulin delivery device delivers insulin to the patient according to an initial baseline profile and parameter measurements. A storage device contains historical data on insulin release to the patient. A processor determines the deviations of insulin release from the baseline profile for one or more time periods using historical data, calculates a respective first baseline profile adjustment for each of the one or more time periods. using the determined offsets, and announces the first adjustment (s) of the calculated baseline profile. One method for recommending a basal rate adjustment includes measuring the parameter, infusing the patient with insulin and storing historical data, determining basal profile deviations, calculating the first basal profile adjustments, and announcing the first (s) adjustment (s) of basal profile. |
