abstract The present invention provides a metoprolol succinate prolonged release capsule dosage form in the form of separate coated units and the process for preparing them. The present invention provides a metoprolol succinate prolonged release capsule dosage form in the form of separate coated units, wherein said dosage form is bioequivalent to the commercial tropol xl® capsule. In addition, the sustained release capsule form comprising separate coated units may be sprayed onto food to facilitate administration to the patient having difficulty swallowing tablets or capsules, for example pediatric or geriatric patients.
