MIXING COMPOSITIONS OF MINERAL ADDITIVES AND METHODS FOR OPERATING WASTE INTO ENERGY COMBUSTERS. Mineral additives and a method for operating a waste-to-energy furnace are offered in order to improve its operational performance and availability, increase the useful life of combustor construction materials (refractory walls and metallic heat exchange tubes) and equipment for flue gas treatment, improve ash quality, reduce emissions and prevent combustion problems such as agglomeration, soot formation, deposition and corrosion. A method of operating a waste-to-energy furnace, such as a fluidized bed reactor, a pulverized fuel combustor, a grate combustor, includes introducing mineral additive into the furnace. The method further includes heating at least a portion of the mineral additive in intimate contact with the fuel, so that the ability of the mineral additive to induce surface crystallization of the ash that forms is increased, or by minimizing contact of the mineral additive with the fuel. and the ash that forms, so that the solid-gas reactions between the mineral additive and the volatile compounds in the flue gas are favored and (...). |
