The present invention relates to transfecting cells using a conjugate comprising at least one saccharide residue and at least one nucleoside component selected from nucleic acids, nucleosides and nucleotides. Such a conjugate is suitable for transfection of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells such as plant cells or mammalian cells including highly efficient human cells. Thus, a novel delivery vehicle is provided for therapeutic molecules including antisense molecules, sirna molecules, mirna molecules, antagomirs or precursors of such molecules, as well as therapeutic nucleosides or nucleotides. In addition, a convenient strategy is provided for the development of new plant lines that exhibit specific characteristics. |
