titleOfInvention | implantable drain valve in a patient's eye for the treatment of glaucoma |
abstract | Patent Summary: "Implantable drain valve in a patient's eye for the treatment of glaucoma". The present invention relates to a surgically implantable drain valve (10) in a patient's eye for treatment of glaucoma comprising a main body (11) and a drainage tube (12) connected to a end with the main body (11) and is provided to be implanted into the eye (o) so as to penetrate with its farthest tip into the anterior chamber (ca) of the eyeball (go) to allow outward drainage aqueous humor (water), wherein the valve (10) is characterized by a number of significant improvements, including: a withdrawable configuration (12a, 12b) of the drainage tube (12); a flat or flat sectioned shape (12 ') of the drainage pipe (12, 12a, 12b); a nipple-free connection between the tip portion (12f) and the drainage pipe (12); a series of bags or holding compartments (11b); a divergent fan-shaped opening (11c) formed on the extractor (s'), not in contact with the eyeball, of the main body (11) of the valve to drive aqueous humor (water) and improve lubrication around the drain valve (10) once implanted; and a modified configuration with respect to conventional drainage valves so as to permit, during surgical operation, an arrangement closer to the iris of the holes (11d) for insertion of the fixation wire. |
