The present invention relates to a resin flame retardant which comprises an organophosphorus compound represented by the general formula (i) (wherein r1, r2, r3 and r4 independently represent an alkyl group or a haloalkyl group, which have from 1 to 8 carbon atoms; z1 and z2 independently represent a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an ethyl group; where n represents 0 to 10), wherein the content of a compound represented by the formula ( (i) where n is 0 is 0,1 to 3,0% by area when the organophosphorus compound is measured by gel permeation chromatography (gpc) and the average degree of condensation (n) is 1; 5 to 3,5, which is calculated from the content of the compound contents represented respectively by the general formula (i), where n is 0 to 10.
