precursors and transport methods for sintering the hydrothermal liquid phase (hlps) |
abstract |
PRECURSORS AND METHODS OF TRANSPORT FOR THE SYNTERIZATION OF THE HYDROTHERMIC LIQUID PHASE (HLPS).nA method of producing a monolithic ceramic body from a porous matrix includes providing a porous matrix having interstitial spaces, providing an infiltration medium comprising a solvent and at least one reactive species, and infiltrating at least part of the interstitial space of the porous matrix with the infiltration medium. The solvent is an inert medium that is not chemically reactive with the porous matrix, and is in a liquid phase when in the part of the interstitial space of the porous matrix. The infiltration medium is mechanically circulated by convection through the porous matrix. At least one reactive species, when in a part of the porous matrix interstitial space, reacts with a part of the porous matrix to form a product, and the product supplies at least a part of the interstitial space. |
