titleOfInvention | PROTO MICROELECTRODES |
abstract | PROTO MICRO-ELECTRODES, BEAMS AND ASSEMBLIES OF PROTO MICRO-ELECTRODES, MICRO-ELECTRODES, MICRO-ELECTRODE FORMATION METHOD, PROTO SEMICONDUCTORS ELEMENTS AND USE OF PROTO MICRO-ELECTRODES. A protomicroelectrode from which a microelectrode is formed in situ after insertion into soft tissue comprises an oblong flexible electrode body of electrically conductive material with a leading end and a trailing end. The electrode body comprises a metal or a metal alloy or an electrically conductive form of carbon or an electrically conductive polymer or a combination thereof. A first coating of a water-soluble and/or swellable and/or degradable material is positioned over the electrode body and extends therethrough at least over a distal portion thereof. A second coating of electrically insulating, water-insoluble flexible polymer material is positioned over the first coating. The second skin comprises one or more through openings at or near its leading end. A corresponding microelectrode and manufacturing method is also disclosed. |
