abstract hair straightening method the present invention relates to a hair straightening method comprising the step of applying a hair treatment composition to the hair comprising: i) at least 0.8% by weight of the total composition of a sugar lactone; and ii) at least 0.8% by weight of the total composition of a bidentated or tridentated carboxylic acid; wherein the ratio of lactone from sugar to acid is 1: 5 to 5: 1; and iii) heating the resulting composition to a temperature greater than 120 ÂșC for at least 1 second.
