patent summary: "integrated biorefinery". This invention relates to the operation of a biorefinery to manufacture biofuels or renewable chemical feedstock using lignocellulosic biomass as a carbon source. The present invention provides a cost effective process for pretreating lignocellulosic biomass in the recovery of fermentable sugars. more specifically, the present invention describes an integrated method for efficiently recovering and using six-carbon and five-carbon sugars together with value-added oligosaccharides such as lignocellulosic biomass xyloligosaccharides such that the cost of biofuel manufacturing and renewable chemical feedstock is substantially decreased. |
