titleOfInvention | system and method for processing a solid tissue sample, solid tissue extrapolation module and extrapolation tool |
abstract | ultrar rapid preparation of diagnostic tissue as an alternative to frozen section. the present invention relates to improved methods and systems for processing solid fabrics. the method can be carried out manually or automatically. the system can have modules, such as (i) an extrapolation module, where a fresh tissue is cut to prepare a tissue sample, (ii) a hardening module that hardens the tissue sample, (iii) an impregnation module that impregnates the tissue sample that was hardened, and (iv) an embedding module that incorporates a tissue sample that has been hardened and impregnated. the fresh tissue, which was removed for the diagnosis of the disease, or to evaluate the surgical treatment, is extrapolated to about 0.6 mm. preferably, the hardening of the fresh tissue is initiated, but not completed, during extrapolation by contact with a chemical mixture. preferably, dry ice, thermoelectric device, or gas condenser cools a metal mold containing the embedded sample. it is sectioned and then examined microscopically as an alternative to histological examination of a frozen section to avoid the known problems of discrepancy and deferred diagnosis. |
