titleOfInvention additive and method for removing calcium from crude oils containing calcium naphthenate and its use
abstract additive and method for the removal of calcium from crude oils containing calcium naphthenate and its use. for treating the invention of an additive and method for removing calcium from crude oils or mixtures containing calcium naphthenate at a low ph and also at a high ph ranging from 5 to 11, preferably from 6 to 11 and more preferably from 7 to 11, the additive being the glyoxal and the mentioned ph is the washing water used in crude oil processing systems. an additive and method for removing calcium from crude oils or mixtures containing calcium naphthenate is also provided, in which the crude oil is treated with washing water containing an alkaline medium selected from the group comprising sodium hydroxide (naoh or caustic), ammonia or an amine compound, or a mixture thereof, and in which the pH of the washing water or the processing mixture in the desalinator ranges from 5 to 11, preferably from 6 to 11, preferably from 7 to 11, characterized by the fact that the additive is glyoxal and crude oil or its mixtures is treated with glyoxal.
