titleOfInvention METHOD TO REDUCE WATER PERMEABILITY WITHIN UNDERGROUND FORMATION, AND TREATMENT FLUID
abstract Reduction of water permeability within an underground formation, particularly within a shoring or gravel filling, can be achieved through the use of a relative permeability modifier (RPM) coated in a particulate material. Methods for reducing water permeability including providing RPM-coated particulates containing an RPM coating on the particulates and placing a treatment fluid containing a base fluid and the RPM-coated particulates in at least a portion of an underground formation. The treatment fluid can also contain an associated polymer that still serves to reduce water permeability compared to that achievable when using RPM only.
