METHOD FOR PRODUCTION OF SUGAR CHAIN CONTAINING SIALIC ACID. Problem to be solved. The importance of sugar chains that have sialic acid linked to (Alpha)2,3 or to (Alpha)2,6 at their non-reducing ends is known. There is a demand for industrial production of these sugar chain compounds. Particularly, the production of glycoprotein or similar drugs inevitably requires the production in quantity of sugar chains that have homogeneous structures by controlling the binding pattern ((Alpha)2, 6 or (Alpha)2,3 binding of sialic acid . In particular, a complex N-type triantennary or tetraantennary sugar chain that has sialic acid at each of the non-reducing ends is generally considered difficult to chemically synthesize. There were no reports that revealed that such a sugar chain was chemically synthesized. Furthermore, these sugar chains are also difficult to prepare enzymatically efficiently. Solution. The present inventors have recently discovered sialic acid degrading sialyltransferase activity on a reaction product in the presence of CMP, and have also found that CMP formed can be enzymatically degraded to thereby efficiently produce a sugar chain containing sialic acid. The present inventors verified (...). |
