titleOfInvention continuous process for esterification of polymers therefore acid groups
abstract Continuous Process for Esterification of Polymers Therefore Acid Groups The present invention relates to a continuous process for the reaction of synthetic poly (carboxylic) acids (a), containing at least 10 repetitive units of formula (i) per polymeric chain. which r¹ represents hydrogen, a C1-4-ac4 alkyl group or a group of the formula -coh, r2 represents hydrogen or a C1-4 ac-alkyl group, r3 represents hydrogen, a group c3 - 1 - - ac - 4 - alkyl or - cooh, with alcohols (b) of the general formula (ii) - (4) - (oh) - n - (ii), wherein r4 represents a hydrocarbon radical 1 to 100 carbon atoms which may be substituted or contain heteroatoms and n represents a number from 1 to 10, wherein a reaction mixture containing at least one synthetic poly (carboxylic acid) (a) and at least one alcohol of the (ii) in a solvent mixture which contains water and, based on the weight of the solvent mixture, 0,1 - 75% by weight of at least A water-miscible organic solvent and in which the organic solvent has a dielectric constant measured at 25 <198> and at least 10 is transported to a reaction zone and flowing through the reaction zone is exposed to irradiation where the reaction mixture in the reaction zone is heated by microwave irradiation at temperatures above 100 <198> c.
