titleOfInvention | articulated motion simulator and method for driving a prosthetic device |
abstract | articulated motion simulator and method for driving a prosthetic device the present invention relates to an articulated motion simulator (100) to simulate biomechanical motion includes a support (102, 104) on which a prosthetic device, actuators (208, 210 and 302) coupled to the support (102, 104) to drive the support (102, 104) and a programmable controller to drive the actuators to move the support (102, 104) and rotate the support (102, 104) with a center controllable rotation regardless of displacement. the simulator can include a linear actuator y to move the support (102, 104) in a linear direction substantially b parallel to the axis of rotation. the linear actuator can include a piston (504, 506) within a sleeve (502), the piston (504, 506) being coupled to the support (102, 104) and being hydraulically driven to displace the support (102, 104 ) and the actuators (208, 210 and 302) can be coupled to the sleeve. the controller can be programmed to vary the center of rotation with displacement and linear rotation of the support (102, 104). sensors that measure the displacement of the actuators (208, 210 and 302) can be included. the controller can drive the actuators based on the measured displacement. |
