| abstract | suture packs that provide unconstrained suture dispensing and methods for them. the present invention relates to a suture package (20) that includes a first part or base (24) that has an outer surface, an inner surface and a plurality of openings (52) extending between the outer and inner surfaces , and a second part or cover (22) having an outer surface, an inner surface and a plurality of columns (38) projecting from the inner surface. the suture package has a closed configuration in which the inner surface of the lid opposes the inner surface of the base with the distal ends of the columns engaging the inner surface of the base in places that are deviated from, and adjacent to the plurality of openings that extend through the base. the package includes a hinge (26) interconnecting the lid and the base for opening and closing the suture package. the suture winding columns on an accessory are able to be passed through the base openings to wrap at least one suture around the suture winding columns to position at least one suture on the base. |
