abstract Formulations and methods for nutrient distribution. The present invention relates to formulations and methods for delivering water soluble and fat soluble nutrients to prevent or correct nutritional deficiencies in individuals requiring small volume nutritional support, such as premature newborns. The formulations may comprise a docosahexaenoic acid (dha) emulsion stabilized by an emulsifying protein such as alpha-lactalbumin, and may additionally contain other valuable nutrients such as arachidonic acid (ara), arginine, glutamine, arginyl glutamine dipeptide and / or alanyl glutamine dipeptide. The formulation is useful, for example, to correct nutritional difficulties by increasing an individual's nutrient intake such as omega-3 or omega-6 long chain polyunsaturated acids, proteins, peptides, vitamins, minerals, other fatty acids, and / or essential amino acids. The nutritional formulation is suitable for enteral delivery and small volume delivery through the nasogastric tube, intragastric feeding, transpyloric administration and / or any other means of administration that results in the introduction of the nutritional formulation into an individual's digestive tract.
