titleOfInvention | METHOD OF PRODUCTION OF A HYPEREUTECTOID STEEL RAIL WITH HARDENED HEAD. |
abstract | method of producing a hardened head hypereutectoid steel rail - a method of producing a hardened head hypereutectoid steel rail comprising a steel rail head hardening step having a composition containing 0.89-1 is provided, 00 wt% carbon, 0.40-0.75 wt% manganese, 0.40-1.00 wt% silicon, 0.05-0.15 wt% vanadium, 0.015-0.030 wt% by weight of titanic, and enough nitrogen to react with titanium and form titanium nitride. Head hardening is conducted at a cooling rate which, if plotted on an xy coordinate graph with the x axis representing the cooling time in seconds and the y axis representing the temperature in degrees celsius of the rail head surface is maintained in a region between an upper limit of the cooling rate defined by an upper line connecting the coordinates xy (0 s, 775 <198> c), (20 s, 670 <198> c) and a lower limit of the cooling rate defined by a lower line connecting the xy coordinates (0 s, 750 <198> c), (20 s, 610 <198> c), and (110 s 500 <198> c). |
