abstract |
solar water treatment apparatus and installation. The specification describes a solar-powered water treatment device (10) for reducing bacteria and other pathogens in treatment water provided to the device (10), the device having an inclined metal surface (25) for receiving the water. (34) through a supply tube (37) to an upper end of the metal surface (25) to flow downwardly onto a thin surface, a transparent or translucent solar energy transfer panel (14) being spaced above and adjacent to the metal surface (25) through which solar energy passes to the water on the metal surface (25), and the water collecting means (28) to an lower end region of the metal surface (25) after passing therein, the treatment water (34) flows at a rate between 0.1 and 2 liters / m 2 / min of the metal surface (25) |
