body cavity ablation apparatus, - the object of the invention is an ablation apparatus that places electrodes on the perimeter of a cavity. in one embodiment, the alternating electric field is used to expose the cavity to sufficient energy for the ablation of the cavity. in one embodiment, two modes are used to expose different regions of the cavity to a different amount of energy so that the thermal effect is more uniform. in one embodiment, the electrodes have a relatively large surface area in order to prevent carbonization of the cavity, but are shaped to fit within a hole in the body. for example, the diameter of the sheath that houses the electrodes during penetration can be only 5.5 mm. |
