titleOfInvention enhancement of petroleum oil fillers using alkali metals and hydrocarbons
abstract enhancement of petroleum oil fillers using alkali metals and hydrocarbons. a method for enhancing an oil charge (102) by removing heteroatoms and / or one or more heavy metals from the oil charge composition (102). This method reacts the oil charge (102) with an alkaline metal (108) and an enhancing hydrocarbon (106). the alkali metal reacts with a portion of the heteroatoms and / or one or more heavy metals to form an inorganic phase separable from the organic oil filler material. The enhancement hydrocarbon binds to the oil filler material (102) and increases the number of carbon atoms in the product. This increase in the number of carbon atoms in the product increases the energy value of the resulting oil charge (116).
