METHOD TO VALUE 2G BIOETHANOL WASTE FLOWS |
abstract |
An integrated approach to using waste products from 2G biorefineries to fractionate high purity lignin. The present invention also provides a method of recycling two waste products (2-G ethanol waste as the substrate (LRBR) and fusel oil/synthetic fuse oil (SFO) as one of the solvents) from biorefineries in a beneficial manner to fractionate high purity lignin. The present method of separating high purity lignin comprises fractionating extractive-free lignin-rich residue with a solvent, wherein the solvent is a mixture of SFO/fuse oil and formic acid. An optimized ratio of residual fusel oil and formic acid produced over >85% high purity lignin yield. |
