titleOfInvention METHOD FOR INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION OF BIODIESEL WITH SOLID CATALYST AND METHOD OF PREPARATION OF THIS BENTONITE CLAY BASED CATALYST
abstract METHOD FOR INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION OF BIODIESEL WITH SOLID CATALYST AND METHOD OF PREPARING THIS CATALYST BASED ON BENTONITE CLAY. The biodiesel production process by triglyceride conversion using functionalized bentonite clay as a heterogeneous catalyst includes the steps of (a) catalyst preparation by a thermally activated solution containing potassium ions; (b) keep the catalyst in contact with the triglyceride in the presence of ethanol or methanol under agitation and heating, (c) separate the oil phase from the catalyst, recirculating the catalyst for a new reaction and purifying the oil phase that will be biodiesel. A process for converting triglyceride into biodiesel, including steps (a) that produces a catalyst of high alkalinity and reactivity to ethyl or methyl transesterification, this catalyst being used in step (b) in a stirred and heated reactor to ensure maintenance of the reactants mass during transesterification, the product of step (b) will be separated by a solid/liquid separation process and the catalyst recovered in step (c) will be used again in step (b), the oil phase of (c) will be the fuel and the effluent properly processed.
