titleOfInvention VITREOUS FOAM COATED WITH NIOBIUM OXIDE: PROCESS OF OBTAINING AND APPLICATION IN EFFLUENT TREATMENT
abstract The present patent application for a Product and Process is concerned with obtaining glass foams, produced from waste glass from fluorescent lamps and calcium carbonate (from eggshell) as a foaming agent, coated with the semiconductor pentoxide of niobium (Nb2O5), as well as its application in the treatment of aqueous solutions contaminated with organic compounds (dyes, drugs, care products, hormones, phenols, pesticides, among others). The results of the photodegradation tests demonstrate the great efficiency of the vitreous foams decorated with Nb2O5 in the treatment of effluents contaminated with organic compounds. Also, the use of semiconductor oxide supported by a material with high surface area and low density has advantages when compared to the use of semiconductor in the form of powders, since it eliminates the process of separation (by filtration or centrifugation) of the photocatalytic material commonly used in conventional systems that use advanced oxidative processes for effluent purification.
