A comb copolymer-based viscosity modifier may be prepared by polymerization comprising at least, or consisting essentially of, the following monomers: (a) (optionally from 7.0% by weight to 18% by weight, of repeating units , de) an (alk)acrylate ester macromonomer based on hydrogenated polybutadiene; (b) (optionally from 33% by weight to 64% by weight, repeating units, of) a C3-C8 alkyl (alk)acrylate ester monomer; (c) a C12-C24 alkyl (alk)acrylate ester monomer; and (d) (optionally from 3.0% by weight to 25% by weight, of repeating units, of) C2-C6 oligo(alkylene glycol) or C2-oxoalkyl (alk)acrylate ester monomer C6 chain terminal blocked with aryl, aralkyl, or C6-C20 alkaryl or chain terminal blocked with C1-C18 alkyl, chain terminal blocked with H, with the repeating units based on the monomer (c) and/ or in monomer (d) comprise at least 21.0% by weight (and optionally up to 35.0% by weight) of comb copolymer based viscosity modifier repeating units. Lubricant compositions comprising the comb copolymer-based viscosity modifier, and also uses thereof and methods for modifying viscosity and dispersance are also intended. |
