titleOfInvention | purification of biodiesel using ionic liquid solvent |
abstract | purification of biodiesel using ionic liquid solvent. the present invention aims at the use of a new solvent in the process of purification, or washing, of biodiesel. this new solvent is an ionic liquid composed of choline chloride, glycerol and triethylene glycol, which in addition to being highly efficient in removing impurities dissolved in biodiesel, such as glycerol, acylglycerols, catalyst and water, also has a relatively low cost, it is a Biodegradable and non-toxic material, its synthesis is simple and fast, and maintains its properties when reused without purification, and after being saturated, it can be recovered, allowing its use in systems with solvent recycling. thus, presenting an innovative proposal, where the use of this material represents a considerable saving of material resources, using a volume about 80% smaller when compared to water (conventional solvent), in addition to representing a simplification of the process, which occurs in a single step, promoting an efficient purification, faster and less costly than the existing techniques. |
