abstract The present invention describes a compound obtained by the synthesis process in the laboratory, belonging to the class of carbohydrates, presenting antifungal action against fungi Cryptococcus spp. Despite the advances in the health area in the last decades, few pharmacological alternatives are available against infections by microorganisms, being urgent the search for new substances that present antimicrobial action against pathogens, aiming to minimize resistance, high costs with the therapies existing in the market and adverse reactions , mainly in infections caused by Cryptococcus, which affects immunocompromised patients whose antifungal therapies are concomitant with medications to treat other pathologies, such as antiretrovirals in the case of carriers of the human immunodeficiency virus. Therefore, the present invention offers an innovative alternative to a substance obtained by the synthesis process whose inhibition of the growth of said fungus is promising.
