system and method for producing sugar streams using membrane filtration is an improved dry milling system and method for producing a sugar stream from grains or similar carbohydrate sources and/or residues, such as for the production of biofuel, using membrane filtration. in particular, a sugar/carbohydrate stream, which includes a desired dextrose equivalent (de), where de describes the degree of conversion of the starch to dextrose (also known as glucose), and/or which has had an undesirable amount of dextrose removed therefrom. non-fermentable components, can be produced after saccharification and before fermentation (or other sugar conversion process) using membrane filtration, this sugar stream being made available for the production of a biofuel, e.g. for the production of alcohol , or other processes. in addition, the systems and methods may also involve the removal of certain grain components, for example, corn grain components, including protein, oil and/or fiber, prior to fermentation or other conversion systems. in other words, the production of sugar flow and/or separation of grain components occurs in the initial session of the system and method. |
